By making your baby or toddler's food at home, you can avoid the added preservatives while controlling the fruit, veggies and meats that are going into your child's body. It also allows you to play around with the ingredients and really get creative. We've seen more and more parents starting to jump onto the homemade food bandwagon. So by popular demand, we're creating a new series of food related blog posts that we've named "Small Bites".
Our first recipe is a staff favorite - Blackberry Banana Puree.
The antioxidant-rich blackberries make a beautiful deep-purple puree that tends to be slightly tart. But the sweetness of a banana perfectly balances the flavor, making it a delicious combination. Add a touch of breast milk or formula to give it some creaminess.
Both babies and adults love this recipe. After making this, you may be tempted to steal a spoonful and swirl it into your own yogurt...or even add it as an ice cream topping!
